| Factor | Why It Matters | Typical Range |

Dispensary vs. Street Price for an Eighth in the Bronx
Street prices for an eighth in the Bronx can be lower—sometimes $20 to $40—but you're taking risks. Street weed isn't tested, could be laced or moldy, and you have no legal recourse if something's wrong. Dispensary prices include lab testing, proper curing, and legal compliance.
| Factor | Dispensary | Street |
|---|---|---|
| Price per eighth | $30–$60 | $20–$40 |
| Testing | Lab-tested for pesticides, mold, potency | None |
| Taxes | Included in price | None |
| Quality consistency | Consistent, labeled | Inconsistent |
| Legal risk | None | Possible charges |
When you compare total cost—including the risk of getting bad product or legal trouble—the dispensary often wins. For a deeper breakdown, see [[bronx-dispensary-prices-vs-street-prices-2025|our full price comparison]].
Factors That Affect the Price of an Eighth at a Bronx Dispensary
Several things push the price of an eighth up or down. Strain genetics matter: exotic or rare strains cost more because they're harder to grow. Quality tier is another big one—top-shelf flower is hand-trimmed, cured longer, and has higher trichome density, so it commands a premium.
Brand reputation also plays a role. Established brands with consistent quality charge more. THC potency is a key driver—higher percentages often mean higher prices. Finally, taxes add roughly 13–20% to every purchase in New York, which is built into the shelf price.
